Qeshm Movalled Company has provided the required water for the city of Loft and 11 villages of Qeshm Island by using its desalination plant.
Last year, the Iranian energy minister pledged to supply the water required in Qeshm Island, the Managing Director of Hormozgan Province Water and Wastewater Company, Abdolhamid Hamzehpour said, adding the implementation of water transfer project started with the presence of the governor-general of Hormozgan Province.
Moreover, a guaranteed-purchase contract, with 5,000 cubic meters of water supply, was signed in this regard, he added.
Transfer of 5,000 cubic meters of water per day from Qeshm Movalled plant has already been planned which can improve drinking water supply to 19,291 residents in Qeshm Island. When operational, desalinated water generation in the town will increase to over 40 percent.
The guaranteed-purchase contract to supply 5,000 cubic meters of water per day was signed between Hormozgan Province Water and Wastewater Company and Qeshm Movalled Company in August 2023 which was put into operation very soon.
It should be noted that Pasargad Qeshm Integrated Water and Power Plant, with 500 megawatts of capacity, is located on 100-hectare land in Qeshm Island. The power plant, operated by Qeshm Movalled Company, also provides power and utilities for Pars Behin Playesh Naft Qeshm Refinery.
