Pasargad Energy Group Participates in Oil Spill Cleanup Operations on Qeshm Island

Following the detection of oil pollution along parts of Qeshm Island’s coastline, Pasargad Energy Group mobilized its operational, technical, and equipment resources to support cleanup efforts. The operation was carried out in the presence and under the supervision of Ahmadreza Lahijan-Zadeh, Deputy Head of Iran’s Department of Environment for Marine Environment and Wetlands, alongside local authorities.

The cleanup operation was conducted in cooperation with Iran’s Department of Environment, the Qeshm Free Zone Organization, and the Ports and Maritime Administration. As part of the response, Hengam Qeshm Industries Equipment and Development Company, a subsidiary of Pasargad Energy Group, was assigned to participate in the cleanup operation by deploying its engineering and operational teams as well as specialized machinery and equipment.

The equipment deployed included skid-steer loaders, loaders, light- and heavy-duty trucks, and oil-absorbent pads, which were used in cleanup activities along the coastlines of Shib Deraz, Suza, and other affected areas.

The operation involved the collection and removal of oil contaminants, protection of sensitive coastal habitats, and safeguarding areas associated with the nesting and breeding of sea turtles and other marine species. Particular attention was also given to protecting the valuable mangrove ecosystems, their associated biodiversity, and other environmentally sensitive areas. Waste generated during the cleanup process was also managed responsibly in accordance with environmental requirements.

As part of its broader environmental initiatives along Iran’s southern coastline, Pasargad Energy Group has previously planted and maintained thousands of mangrove trees along the northern coast of Qeshm Island.

In response to the recent oil pollution affecting the island’s southern coastline, and in line with its commitment to environmental protection and local communities, the Group acted promptly in coordination with the relevant authorities and in accordance with predefined environmental response scenarios.

Pasargad Energy Group’s timely participation and contribution to the cleanup efforts were acknowledged and commended by the Deputy Head of Iran’s Department of Environment.
