Daily Production from Sepehr and Jufair Bangestan Reservoir More Than Triples Following Downhole Pump Installation

Following engineering studies and simulation work, the installation of the first Electrical Submersible Pump (ESP) system in Jufair-9 well has increased the well’s oil production by more than threefold.

According to the Public Relations Office of Pasargad Energy Group, three Sucker Rod Pump (SRP) systems had been installed over the past two years in wells completed in the Bangestan reservoir as part of the Sepehr and Jufair development project. The installation of the first ESP system has now resulted in a significant further increase in production from the field.

Given that Iran’s Bangestan reservoirs contain substantial volumes of oil in place while recovery rates remain below 10 percent, the deployment of artificial lift systems can play an important role in increasing production and improving oil recovery. The successful application of these systems could also provide an effective model for use in other oil fields.

In parallel, several well-based and reservoir-based solutions are being evaluated to further enhance production and recovery. A number of these measures have already been implemented, including dual-lateral horizontal well drilling, optimization of high-volume acidizing operations, and optimized well-path selection within the reservoir interval, taking into account the heterogeneous characteristics of the Bangestan reservoir.

These initiatives form part of Pasargad Energy Group’s broader program for the systematic development of the Bangestan reservoir in the Sepehr and Jufair oil fields and for improving the oil recovery factor.

The measures have been implemented with the support of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) and through the cooperation of Pasargad Exploration, Development and Production Company and Pezhvak Energy Engineering Services Company, both subsidiaries of Pasargad Energy Group. The English naming of Pasargad E&P and the Sepehr-Jufair field is consistent with the Group’s own English-language usage.
