Pasargad Damghan Solar Power Plant plays a significant role in environment conservation, said Yaser Mirzaei, Managing Director of Taban Energy Pasargad Company.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the 10-megawatt Pasargad Damghan Power Plant, he said the solar power plant was built in a 2-hectare land and has two phases with the capacity of 2 and 8 megawatts which can add 18 million kilowatt-hour to the country’s power output per annum.
The power plant can save five million liters in water consumption and six million cubic meters in fossil fuel consumption per year. It can also prevent 14,000 tons of greenhouse gas emission annually, so plays a significant role in environmental conservation, he noted.
Pasargad Damghan Solar Power Plant came online with 5.8 million euros of investment by Pasargad Energy Development Company and is a big step towards utilizing solar energy in Semnan Province which has 300 days of sunshine a year, Mirzaei said.
Pasargad Damghan Solar Power Plant produces 40 percent more energy than similar power plants by simultaneously using bifacial panels and solar tracking system in the hot months of the year, he said.
One of the exclusive features of this power plant is using a solar panel cleaning robot that saves more than 40 cubic meters in water consumption needed to wash panels. The locally-designed robot is the first one made in Iran by knowledge-based companies, Mirzaei stated.
Taban Energy Pasargad Company, a subsidiary of Pasargard Energy Development Company, started implementation of the first phase of the project (with 2 MW capacity) in summer 2021 and the second phase (with 8 MW capacity) in Spring 2022 and finalized them in Fall 2022. In addition to construction of the 10-megawatt solar power plant in Damghan, the company is also building Pasargad solar power plants in Sorkheh and Mahdishahr, each with a capacity of 12 megawatts.
