Completion of Drilling and Finalization of the First Well in the 9-Well Infill Project of South Pars Gas Field in 106 Days

Tuesday، 10 June 2025
The drilling, completion, and commissioning of the first production well in the 9-well Infill project of the South Pars gas field, located on platform 19A, was successfully concluded on 2 June 2025 (1404/03/12 in the Persian calendar) by Pasargad Energy Development Company (Pezhvak Energy), using the Pasargad 200 drilling rig.

Pezhvak Energy successfully completed the drilling of this 4,073-meter-deep well with a 50-degree inclination in just 106 days.

It is worth noting that during the drilling operation, total loss circulation was encountered in the 16-inch hole section, as well as a high-pressure saltwater formation in the 12-1/4 inch section—both of which had not been previously observed in other wells drilled on platform 19A. However, through applied engineering and operational measures, these challenges were successfully overcome.

Based on current plans and ongoing surface-level operations, the gas produced from this well will be connected to the national gas grid on 15 June 2025.

Pasargad Energy Development and Pezhvak Energy intend to use Rotary Steerable System (RSS) technology for the first time in South Pars field in the drilling of the 12-1/4 inch section of the next well in the project. This initiative aims to accelerate drilling operations and improve well drilling time records in this joint field.

Engineering and operational innovations, the application of advanced technologies, and a commitment to timely project execution have made Pezhvak Energy a trusted partner for major clients seeking high-quality and expedited energy development projects.
