Iran Oil Firm, University Sign Agreement on Geomechanical Study

TEHRAN (PEDC) - Pasargad Exploration, Development and Production Company, an Iranian oil company, signed a cooperation agreement with Amirkabir University of Technology on "geomechanical and laboratory study of hydraulic fracturing and cement quality improvement".

The agreement was signed at the Tehran International Oil, Gas, Refining, and Petrochemical Exhibition at the booth of Pasargad Energy Development Company, the parent company of Pasargad Exploration, Development, and Production Company.

Dr. Amiri, deputy of research at Amirkabir University of Technology, said after signing the agreement that the cooperation between industry and university was very important, and said: "Pasargad Company has shown its interest in collaborating with the university and we are also trying to meet the needs of the industry and society."

Dr. Shad, CEO of Pasargad Exploration, Development, and Production Company, said: "The agreement that was signed is a serious one that is needed for the national project of Sepehr-Jufair fields. We want to use the accumulated knowledge in the university and take a step towards developing research cooperation with the university."

Sepehr-Jufair is two onshore oil fields in southwest Iran with around 4.5 billion barrels of oil-in-place. The development contract for these fields was awarded to Pasargad Energy Development Company by the National Iranian Oil Company in 2017. The project involves exploration, drilling more than 130 wells, development of underground and surface facilities, and operation at a rate of 110,000 barrels per day.

The Tehran International Oil Exhibition is one of the largest oil exhibitions in West Asia and the world, which showcases the capabilities and achievements of Iran's oil industry.
