The construction of the first petrochemical complex in Hormozgan Province has made 20 percent progress, said the province’s governor-general.
Some 1.6-1.7 billion euros have been invested to construct the petrochemical complex in Hormozgan Province which could create 9,500 job positions once it comes on stream, Mahdi Dousti was quoted by IRNA as saying.
Construction of Pasargad Olefins Complex in Parsian Energy Intensive Industrial Special Economic Zone has progressed by 20 percent, he added.
The petrochemical complex consists of a plant to produces methanol from natural gas which includes a methanol-to-olefins unit and an olefins-to-polyolefin unit, he noted.
Polyethylene and polypropylene are also produced in Pasargad Olefins Complex, he said, adding such polymer products are used in various industries.
About 2,500 direct and 7,000 indirect jobs will be created when the complex comes online, Dousti said, noting the complex will also produce 1.6 million tons of methanol per year.
Soroush Energy Paydar Company, a subsidiary of Pasargad Energy Development Company, is responsible for constructing the Pasargad Polyolefin Complex in the Parsian Zone.
