NITC Braces for Facing Sanctions

TEHRAN (Shana) -- The National Iranian Tanker Company (NITC) says it is ready to counter potential US sanctions.

“Under the previous round of embargoes, Iran’s oil exports never ceased even for one moment,” Ahmad Moghimi said.

He further touched on the process of administering devolution of estate of the crew members of Sanchi Tanker, saying so far the devolution of estates of 11 victims has been finalized and the rest are yet to be complete.

The Sanchi oil tanker collision occurred on 6 January 2018 when the Panamanian-flagged, Iranian-owned tanker Sanchi, with a full gas condensate cargo of 136,000 tonnes (960,000 barrels), sailing from Iran to South Korea, collided with the Hong Kong-flagged cargo ship CF Crystal 160 nautical miles (300 km) off Shanghai, China. Sanchi caught fire shortly after the collision; after burning and drifting for over a week, it sank on 14 January, killing all the 32 crew members on-board.
