Amir-Hossein Zamaninia, deputy petroleum minister for international affairs and trading, said the Tehran-Islamabad relations have always been historical and fraternal and the religious and cultural links between the two countries are the strongest backbone of friendly relations between them especially in economic grounds.
He said the Islamic Republic of Iran regards energy and gas as a factor for bolstering regional cooperation and integrity with neighbors including Pakistan.
The official further underlined positive signals regarding completion of the project from the new government in Pakistan, adding under the new conditions, Iran would welcome continuation of talks for completion of the project.
The Iranian section of the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline has been constructed with a length of 900 kilometers for $2.5 billion, and another $1 billion should be invested for completing it, but the second part of the pipeline in Pakistan is 780 Km and is yet to be laid out.
