National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) CEO Hamidreza Araqi said a major section of the project came online last calendar year (ended on March 20) and the last 100-km of the project has now come on-stream.
The pipeline is key in ensuring sustainable gas export to neighboring Iraq, the official said.
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani is scheduled to officially inaugurate the project, said Mr. Araqi.
Iran is currently producing roughly 830 mcm/d of natural gas of which 45 mcm/d is exported to Iraq and Turkey.
